Carnaval se consolida como o maior evento de São Paulo

Seventy-two years ago, parading through the center of the city of São Paulo, the oldest carnival block in the city - the Bloco Esfarrapado - went through the streets of Bixiga, a central region, to cheer residents and faithful revelers who have been accompanying their parade for years. The block, which appeared in the 1947 carnival, was founded by friends Armandinho Puglisi, Walter Taverna, Tinin, Capuno and Carabina. According to the organizers, at the time, each of them provided a costume and, with some empty cans and pots, they left batucando by the streets of the neighborhood. O Observatório de Turismo e Eventos da SPTuris, empresa oficial do turismo na cidade de São Paulo, divulgou os números atualizados de arrecadação dos grandes eventos paulistanos. Em 2018, o Carnaval se consolidou como o maior evento paulistano nesse quesito, com arrecadação de R$ 731 milhões. Esse número compreende os gastos dos paulistanos e dos visitantes com hospedagem, alimentação e transporte durante a realização do evento.
O número de movimentação do Carnaval é quase o dobro do segundo colocado, o GP de Fórmula 1 de 2017, que arrecadou para a cidade R$ 432 milhões. É importante notar que a programação oficial do Carnaval, entre pré e pós-evento, durou cerca de três semanas, enquanto a programação de uma prova da Fórmula 1 se resume a três dias.
O terceiro evento que mais movimenta São Paulo também tem carros como foco. O Salão Internacional do Automóvel de 2016 (o evento é bienal, portanto não aconteceu em 2017) arrecadou R$ 320 milhões.
Em relação ao número de visitantes que a cidade recebe, o Carnaval também lidera com 872 mil pessoas. O Salão do Automóvel fica em segundo, com 200 mil pessoas e a Virada Cultural 2017 aparece em terceiro com 176 mil.
